The results of today's experimentation in the physical computing lab (192kbps MP3, 0'52"; warning: awful noise). The circuit involved a CD4093, with each oscillator in the chip modulating the next. There were two binary dividers in there somewhere as well, and the whole thing was controlled with a couple of photoresistors. (Circuit suggested by Handmade Electronic Instruments, which is an awesome book for people interested in analog electronics and circuit bending-type stuff.)

I was in one of the cheapo vegetable stores on Main street. This is one of their refrigerators - it was, I believe, keeping the broccoli cold. I stood there for a few minutes with my microphone out and pretended to examine the soda. (I think I ended up buying two liters of Coke.)

(Back from hiatus, for a few weeks at least!)

I recorded this last August in the lot behind the apartment complex parking lot. Summer around here is hot, humid, miserable - but at least it has good sound effects. Winter is completely silent, and I'm glad it's finally over.
