Things on my desk
Jun. 8th, 2006 10:55 pmI'm pretty sure I posted something like this back in the day, but Sumana reminded me of the joy of this type of memery. I think it's pretty vivid. Anyway, here's the stuff on my desk at work, from left to right.
- Sun Ultra 10, powered off, I think I was supposed to retrieve some files from this but I never bothered to plug it in.
- Some LPs that were shipped to me from the UK by mistake, still in their packaging. Apparently I'm not legally obliged to ship them back? Is that right? Anyway, they haven't bothered me about it.
- O'Reilly, and lots of it. Javascript, Perl & XML, SOAP, Perl Cookbook, Programming Perl, SNMP. Most of those do not belong to me.
- French press by Bodum, lately unused because the people at Oren's Roast intimidate me and where else am I going to buy coffee? There's also the option of loose tea, I guess.
- Reading materials: an old issue of Entertainment Weekly, "A Corpus-based Approach to Finding Happiness," "Conversation Analysis for Educational Technologists," House of Leaves.
- Stupid pager from Nextel that lasts for about 10 stupid hours on a full stupid charge.
- A plastic cup with a bunch of pennies in it. I hate pennies.
- Pay stubs.
- Protective Lip Balm from Longs Drugs. I must have bought this about three years ago. There is no Longs Drugs in New York.
- Fork; mug; spoon; nail clippers; half a pack of Ice Breakers "Cool Mint."
- Post-its in many neon colors.
- Non-penny loose change.
- Linux machine, monitor, keyboard, mouse, smaller monitor, keyboard, decent computer with no operating system installed (haven't had time) on top of crappy computer with Win2k, mouse.
- My phone! I still haven't set an outgoing message for my voicemail.
- Napkins, paper cover for chopsticks, take-out menu for Israeli food.
- My Axim and its keyboard.
