Noise, week 1
Mar. 1st, 2004 05:25 pmI bought my minidisc recorder a few years back thinking that it would be useful for gathering data for linguistics papers. It served in an academic capacity just once - for a folklore project (Anthro 160) - but other than that I've used it mostly to record the sounds around me that I find interesting.
My goal here is to present clips from my (still growing) collection of field recordings, occasionally augmented with recordings that I've manipulated or overdubbed. Hopefully I can keep it up on a weekly basis.
This week's recording comes from a large marble hallway in the American Museum of Natural History, just inside the entrance that adjoins the 81st St. subway station. I think it was a summer camp field trip.
192kbps MP3, 1m13s (recorded July 2003)
